In order to get games in early season as a New England school, teams need to travel south. Ripken in Myrtle Beach has been a popular destination, the most attended, and teams will head down to play typically four games in a weekend, sometimes five. In addition to the weekend southern trips, some New England programs have a typical week-long spring break trip.
D2 baseball in New England can be very challenging, but coaches have done a great job putting together schedules prior to the NE-10 or CACC conference schedules. This weekend marks the first weekend teams really get going; after this weekend, all D2 teams would have played their first game.
