The NCAA makes changes to the tournament format every few years. The last major change was prior to the 2019 season when D2 and D3 went to a regional and super regional format, similar to the D1 tournament.
Baseball has always been a game of depth – who has the deepest pitching, who can make it through injuries, how many guys can get the big hit when it matters. That’s why expanding the NCAA tournament at all levels will create more drama AND provide more opportunities for schools.
